COMMUNITY SYSTEMS STRENGTHENING

It is funded by the Global Fund through Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) as the Principal Recipient. The overall objectives of CCS are: To contribute to 75% reduction of HIV new infection and reduce HIV related mortalities by 75%.
The National government therefore sought to commission a pilot to access effectiveness and efficiency in implementing an integrated concept that not only consider health drivers within the community strategy but also other health actors.
The project targets to create demand for the utilization of community and facility health services. Such services include; HIV Testing Services (HTS), PMTCT, Defaulter tracing (ART, TB, Immunization etc.), referral of the HIV Exposed Infants (HEI) for health services, linking community members to health services and health education among others. Key strategies include ensuring functionality of Community Health Units (CHU’s) and building capacities of local health implementers such as youth groups, CBO’s, faith organizations among others.
